Profile

ELLEN F. BRANDT-BLOCK attended Miami University, Oxford Ohio, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education in 1975. After teaching for ten years, Ms. Brandt-Block began her legal career by attending the University of Toledo Law School where she was awarded an Alumni Scholarship for academic achievement.

Upon graduation with honors, Ms. Brandt-Block was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 1992 and opened her own law firm with two fellow law school graduates where she enjoyed a successful practice prior to moving to Florida in 1996.

Her practice in Ohio included:

  • Civil and Criminal Litigation

While practicing in Ohio, Ms. Brandt-Block was a member of the American Bar Association, the Ohio Bar Association, the Defiance and Williams County Bar Associations, Business and Professional Women’s Association, a member of the Defiance County Residential Housing Board, Ohio Association of Trial Lawyers and Council for Exceptional Children.

In 1998 she moved to Florida to take on the challenging position as Administrator of Sandpiper Cluster, an eighteen bed residential facility for disabled persons and Administrator of a Skills Training Program for thirty disabled persons. Ms. Brandt-Block transformed the underachieving organization into a model facility within 12 months.

Ms. Brandt-Block joined the prestigious law firm of Searcy, Denney, Scarola, Barnhart, and Shipley in 1998 where her practice was focused on commercial litigation at the state and federal level. She worked directly with the highly successful trial lawyer Jack Scarola. Ms. Brandt-Block maintains her affiliation with the Ohio Bar and is also a member of the American Bar Association, the Florida and Palm Beach County Bars, the American Trial Lawyers Association and the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers.

In 2002, Ms. Brandt-Block joined The Jay Block Companies, LLC as CEO, to integrate her extensive business and legal experience to spearhead the growth of The Jay Block Companies into the corporate outplacement and training arena.
