“We who are strong in faith should help the weak with their weaknesses, and not please ourselves. Let each of us please our neighbors, for their good, to help them be stronger in faith” Romans 15: 1-2.

Moving Forward and Upward

This is a new dawn, a new day, and a new year! “There is a time and a season for everything and we must go through some hardships in order to appreciate and share in the blessings.

I am not out of the woods yet, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and it’s not a runaway train! I am in my home, my health is improving daily, and I am in the process of building my business through marketing, referrals, and partnering with colleagues.

The biggest lessons I am learning are:

 1. Always have hope,

 2. It’s okay to be afraid, do the work through the fear and don’t give up, because that is where strength and help comes from, and

 3. No one is an island and there is no such thing as pulling yourself up and making it by your bootstraps – no one “makes it” on their own.

When you look at all of the successful people in the world, you will find that they all had someone or something that helped them achieve success, against all odds. The following people never gave up and got help along their journey:

Harriet Tubman helped over 1,050 slaves escape to freedom on the Underground Railroad, she never lost a passenger on her trips to freedom because of her courage and she had safe houses to guide and protect her and the slaves along the trail to the northern states and Canada.

  • Wilma Rudolph was diagnosed with polio when she was 4 years old and doctors told her she would never walk. With the help of her family and a track coach, Wilma Rudolph not only walked but when on to win 3 gold medals in the 1960 Olympics in Rome.
  • Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. had strong faith and people who helped them fight for peace and freedom in a non-violent manner.
  • Michael Jordan and Earvin “Magic” Johnson had coaches, teachers, and supportive family members that helped them stay at the top of their game. Even when they lost games they maintained their winning attitudes.
  • Thomas Edison George and Washington Carver used their creativity and found support in the scientific community to make the world a better place. Thomas Edison gave us the light bulb and George Washington Carver gave us over 900 uses for the peanut.

What all of these people have in common is HOPE!

It is important that we walk the talk. Share these lessons with clients who are going through difficult challenges in their careers and their lives.

I thank you all so much for helping to make this experience a productive, educational, and life-affirming journey, especially Jay and Ellen Block and so many others, and of course my primary source of strength and ultimate provider, God Almighty!

I deeply appreciate  all of your continuous prayers, positive thoughts, kind words, and other acts of kindness. I continue to wish you all good health, prosperity, and much success.

 Peace and blessings,

Makini Theresa Harvey
